I love the functional simplicity of every part of the AeroPress design and really love the coffee it makes. I understand why people use the inverted method to make a french press style of coffee. But there is no need to invert the brewer. Once the plunger is inserted into the chamber, the silicone seal stops the water flow and the coffee can steep until the plunger is pressed down. After all my experimenting, even though I am a big fan of french press coffee, I like AeroPress coffee made as you originally designed, better than french press. Now, after reading many of the questions/answers above, I can try a new way – with room temp water. I'm going to go do that right now! Thanks for a wonderful design. My design professor would be impressed, he preached, "simplicity is the essence of good design" – From Diane K.

Thank you for your comments. We too have used that method too. I first read about it in a 2005 AeroPress review by Mark Prince, the owner and founder of the coffeegeek forum.
