Most burr grinders above $100 are quite satisfactory. But avoid the cheapies.
FAQ
- previous post: I love the functional simplicity of every part of the AeroPress design and really love the coffee it makes. I understand why people use the inverted method to make a french press style of coffee. But there is no need to invert the brewer. Once the plunger is inserted into the chamber, the silicone seal stops the water flow and the coffee can steep until the plunger is pressed down. After all my experimenting, even though I am a big fan of french press coffee, I like AeroPress coffee made as you originally designed, better than french press. Now, after reading many of the questions/answers above, I can try a new way – with room temp water. I'm going to go do that right now! Thanks for a wonderful design. My design professor would be impressed, he preached, "simplicity is the essence of good design" – From Diane K.
- next post: Dear Alan, Thank you for the Aeropress, which I use twice a day. There's nothing else like it. Quick to use, efficient and delicious coffee is the result. My one concern is that I usually find an oily film on the surface of the coffee. When I refilter it through a brown paper filter, the oil disappears. Same thing when I use unbleached filters in the Aeropress instead of the standard white paper filters. Any idea what this oil is? – From Dennis L.
