Alan Adler – Founder and Inventor

AeroPress, Inc. is the manufacturer of the AeroPress coffee maker, an innovative coffee press beloved by a multitude of global fans.

The company was founded in 1984 by Alan Adler, a renowned inventor and retired Stanford University engineering instructor, to manufacture and sell his revolutionary sporting goods inventions, including the Aerobie Pro flying ring, which set a Guinness World Record for the longest throw.

In 2004 Alan began studying the coffee brewing process and analyzing coffee maker designs in order to create a truly innovative device that would brew a superior cup of coffee. At a coffee industry trade show in November, 2005, Aerobie debuted its breakthrough AeroPress coffee maker.

After taking a couple years to establish credibility in the coffee world, sales of the AeroPress to serious coffee lovers took off across the USA and in over 80 countries.

The Company flourished for over a decade selling both Aerobie sport toys with their astonishing flying performance and the AeroPress coffee makers that brews deliciously smooth, rich coffee.

In 2017, the assets of the Aerobie sport toy business were sold to the Swimways Corporation, a subsidiary of Spin Master Ltd., and the name of the company was officially changed to AeroPress, Inc. In 2019, we expanded the AeroPress product line by introducing the AeroPress Go travel coffee press.

In August of 2021, Tiny Capital Ltd., a Canadian holding company with a reputation for investing in and nurturing small companies with great potential, announced that it had purchased a controlling interest in the AeroPress business. Alan Adler, the inventor of the AeroPress, continues to be involved and retains a minority interest in the business. All AeroPress employees are staying on and we are squarely focused on building even more success for the beloved AeroPress coffee makers.
